What a regular gift to Operation Smile can do

Jane Rose longed to be called by her name. Writing it repeatedly in her notebook, the spirited 7-year-old hoped that the dream would eventually come true.

But in reality, she faced almost constant bullying because of her cleft condition. Many children in her community refused to call her anything besides “bungi,” a derogatory word for cleft.

It wasn’t until her father Eutigio learned about Operation Smile Philippines that he believed that surgery would finally be possible.

After travelling to the medical mission site and undergoing our screening process, medical volunteers were delighted to announce that Jane Rose would be scheduled for surgery.

Today, Jane Rose continues to excel in her studies at school and the children who once bullied her now call her by her real name.

It takes only 45 minutes and as little as £150 to give a new smile to a child, but your regular gift is more than a surgery. All of our supporters give renewed hope to patients like Jane Rose.
